Abstract:
The paper focuses on distance learning during the coronavirus pandemic in security secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The aim of the research is to find out how teachers, pupils and students of secondary and higher schools managed distance learning in the first wave of a pandemic Covid-19 without a school curriculum focused on distance learning. The aim is to evaluate the positives and negatives of distance learning here.
The methods of basic research were interviews with teachers and students in secondary schools. On the basis of these methods, the Higher Vocational Medical and Secondary Medical School in Prague was selected, which, in addition to medical fields, also focuses on safety fields, which have collaborated the most on research. The research technique at this school was questionnaires, which were conducted with teachers and high school students and university students. There were 520 respondents among pupils and students and 75 completed questionnaires from teachers. Questionnaires were evaluated graphically and in writing.
The evaluation of interviews and questionnaires revealed that distance learning partially threatens the social role of the teacher, who has to influence the student in the way a person behaves in a certain social position, to correct the relationship between the individual and classmates. Lack of contact of pupils and students with teachers can lead to failure to meet the needs of the teacher to his burnout. The positive aspect from the teachers' point of view is the fact of having more intensive communication with pupils' parents and support for pupils' independence and above-standard education in information and communication technology for both pupils and teachers. The disadvantage of distance learning is the equipment of schools with ICT technology, which is often not compatible even between computers in individual classes, as well as the technical equipment of pupils and students in their homes.
