Abstract:
For the past two decades, there have been increasing problems of student misbehaviors in undergraduate teaching. Teaching quality and learning are adversely affected when students disrupt instruction. While instructors have institutional authority to maintain classroom order, students perceive classroom rules as obstacles to their independence. In response to the need for improving classroom behavior, an interactive teaching approach is proposed. This method enables students to be actively engaged in the learning process. In addition, two instructor-designed surveys are developed to be used by teachers and students to evaluate the quality of instruction, assessment, and enforcement of classroom behavior codes. When instructors use the outcomes of the two surveys and apply interactive teaching approaches, there are more opportunities for student misconduct to be prevented or minimized so that a productive learning environment can be established. Keywords:
Interactive, student misbehaviors.
