Abstract:
In continuity with fundamental changes in society ( information revolution in all aspects of life ) and new ways of defining numeracy on a threshold of the 21st century, we feel we need to modify methods, forms and aims of mathematical education of our students in technical fields of ŽU in Žilina. Current time demands a mathematical teacher to use new, progressive ways of teaching which accentuate development of students’ competency to apply well-founded mathematical judgments in practice. In this article we will present new educational space with the modern modules of mathematical education of our students in technical fields, with usage of ways and means like: e-learning, video projections, on-line access to the learning materials, interactive visualization of concepts, practical exercises with use of mathematical software and cognitive maps of terms.

A pedagogical experiment, whose results are stated in this article, was realised during the academic year 2015/201 when Mathematics 1 was taught on the Faculty of Security Engineering, University of Zilina in Zilina. After using the new information space with the alternative forms of teaching in the learning process of the subject Mathematics 1 we carried out a pedagogical experiment. The aim of this experiment was to find out whether this implementation would have a positive influence on the study results of the students.
