Abstract:
In areas with high level of seismicity safety in buildings use still has room for improvement. Research shows an earthquake has impact on non-structural elements (ex. non-structural walls, furniture, equipment) producing damages and losses. The premises is the earthquake damages could be diminished through a better technological building solutions and smarter design focused on non-structural elements.

Designing seismic safe educational spaces as well as learning and teaching in safe spaces is paramount for a healthy environment. Therefore, teaching seismic safe design solutions is a first step in creating better educational spaces. To designing future better and safer buildings can contribute experimental, simulation spaces, and up to date laboratories. Exploration in safe educational spaces can lead to discovering improved seismic design solutions that can be implemented through applied learning and teaching.

The paper explores applied methods to teach safer use and design of buildings in high seismic risk areas. The aim is to test and identify efficient teaching techniques having results in enabling learning safe seismic design.
