Abstract:
In modern realities, when high information technologies have become widespread and changes have taken place in relation to education, development and training, it is necessary to revise the main directions of educational policy, reform and modernize educational systems. Educational institutions should help young people to join the conditions of modern society as quickly and painlessly as possible. A wide range of innovations should be included in the professional activity of educational institutions, including the replacement of educational trajectories and paradigms, the modernization of the content of education, and the optimization of the educational process. So it is crucial not just to transfer the knowledge in a very orthodox manner and just make students literate, but to appeal to the students and help them learn the language better. In accordance with our research the major part of students demonstrate quite poor language results and have no motivation to broaden their foreign language horizons. To determine factors hampering the learning results among students, the authors carried out an experiment. As a part of the Project 5-100 implementation there has been designed a new on-line foreign language development course, "English for General Purposes" which is based on a number of approaches, such as system, competence-based and cultural ones. The students were divided into two groups. In the first group the teachers implemented the traditional approach, and in the second one they employed and actively integrated the innovative approach which involved the usage of the above mentioned on-line course. The results were analyzed and conclusions were made on the basis of the questionnaire and observation method. The most significant ones indicate that the integration of innovative technologies allows to improve foreign language skills, motivation and dedication of students.
