Abstract:
Prosocial tendencies in the issue of critical and moral thinking have an important position. It is the behaviour that is voluntary in favour of the other person. Recently, more than ever, we have noticed a tendency of egocentric motives of individuals. The central concept in terms of human behaviour and survival is the psychological construct - empathy. This intellectual virtue is a psychological construct in the field of interpersonal relationships. It is considered an integrating element in the issue of critical thinking and moral reasoning. The Prosocial Tendencies Measure - Revised (PTN-R) methodology was completed by N = 241 teacher students from three teaching faculties at the University of Prešov in Prešov in the academic year 2020/2021. The tool consists of six scales (public prosocial behaviour, emotional, requested, anonymous, altruistic prosocial behaviour and prosocial behaviour in critical situations), which contain 23 statements. Differences in terms of gender, grade, faculty and discipline were verified for all PTM-R indicators. Interesting research results indicate emotional behaviour in relation to the indicated variables. Since empathy is a fundamental condition of social communication and interaction between people, in the discussion we focus on cognitive and emotional empathy as a construct that integrates critical thinking and moral reasoning of the individual.
