Abstract:
Often in education innovation takes place in isolation. The focus of this study is to highlight and identify the pockets of innovation that are taking place across the American educational landscape. Through this study, we identify innovative and forward-thinking programs, school models, technology solutions and individuals as they are working to change an aspect/s of the teaching and learning continuum. Through this narrative case study, we will look at the people behind the innovation; their personal development stories and how they came to develop the mission of the programs they run. Further, we will identify the how the programs, schools, and technologies are working to impact issues in the educational market. Through both understanding the programs and the people behind them we can identify the critical foundations for these offerings to develop and thrive, impacting teaching and learning outcomes across the country. As the isolation of educational innovation is a reality across the country, this study highlighting current programing and informs current and future educational leaders about the innovative work being realized around them. This study suggests that through informing educational leaders, innovation can not only spread beyond its current limits but also dive the development of shared outcomes, impacts, and resources.
