Abstract:
The base of educational and didactic work at nursery school is educational programme. The document being currently in force is the Base of Programme Pre-School Education for Nursery Schools, Pre-School Departments, Primary Schools and Other Forms of Nursery School Education.
The Base of Programme Pre-School Education constitutes the obligatory set of educational aims and contents and there are abilities described in it in a form of general and detailed requirements concerning the knowledge and skills which a child should acquire after finishing particular stages of nursery school education and the set of educational tasks for pre-schools, which are taken into consideration in appropriate programmes of the nursery school education.
The Base of Programme Pre-School Education describes the process of aiding the development and education of children included in the pre-school educational system. Nursery schools, pre-school departments at primary schools and other forms of nursery school education in equal measure fulfil the protective, upbringing and educational functions. They enable the children to play together and learn in conditions that are safe, friendly and adjusted to their developmental needs.
Children attending nursery school institutions – no matter what the organizational formula and the place of its location is – they have to be assured to have such a range of education, which can enable the support of their intellectual development and prepare them well for further learning at school and coping with various situations in their everyday lives. For that reason, the Base of Programme Pre-School Education for nursery schools, pre-school departments at primary schools and other forms of nursery school education determines the aims of nursery school education, describes basic assumptions of how to develop and educate children included in the pre-school educational system and also lists the fields of educational activities at nursery schools, for which there are specified competences, that should characterize the children at the end of the nursery school education period. The description of the competences is precise enough to let the children be ready to start learning at school next – no matter what form of nursery school education they attended before. In the Base of Programme Pre-School Education there were also determined some circumstances and the ways of executing its basis.
The Base of Programme Education is the only programme document of the nursery school education given by the Minister of National Education. It is not the curriculum but has an open character and enables the acceptance of various methodical solutions. The range of education and upbringing, which is defined in this document, has to be expanded and concretized in the author programmes of pre-school education. They ought to be worked out in detail, specifically and unambiguously so that the teacher was able to plan his classes for the following months, weeks, days of the school year and then execute those principles while working with children in accordance with that document. The programme may include additional contents concerting upbringing and educating, which are beyond the range established in the base of programme, if they are well justified and possible to be introduced in the conditions given, but most of all it needs to lead to effective learning of all the material that was written down in the basis.
