Abstract:
The article features the process of creating a new satisfaction measurement tool for students of academies and universities. Based on secondary source material, critical feedback of the existing tools, and interviews with staff and students, a new concept of the tool for measuring student satisfaction levels was proposed at the University of Technology in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The main purpose of the study is to identify the key aspects for maintaining high quality of study, and to design a universal and reliable tool for measuring student satisfaction. The article consists of an introduction, three body paragraphs, a conclusion and bibliography. The introduction emphasizes the need to guarantee high quality of study, and the demand to implement methods and tools for managing student satisfaction. Its precise measurement is crucial for monitoring and maintaining high quality of study. The first paragraph presents key aspects of customer satisfaction management, its types and different manner of its measurement. The next paragraph presents the existing procedures and satisfaction measurement tools used to evaluate the functioning of the library, Deans' offices, cafeteria, living conditions in dormitories, etc. The third paragraph summarizes the work of the newly-assembled University Board for Maintaining High Quality of Teaching. It contains records of interviews with staff and student representatives, which significantly helped to verify and test the new tool. Eventually, the ultimate research tool for managing UTP student satisfaction, the "STUDENT SATISFACTION EVALUATION SURVEY" is presented. Concluding remarks and further advice for other universities and academic centres, which emphasize the importance of building tools for measuring student satisfaction and its promotion, were gathered in the final paragraph. The article is the first part of a series of publications about the need to secure high quality of teaching in higher education centres - based on the example of the University of Technology in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
