Abstract:
The aim of this article is to present the research conducted within the framework of the project entitled "Identification of success and failure factors of research projects" carried out at the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. The main specific objective here is identification of success and failure factors of research projects, with a special emphasis on projects performed at universities and high schools in countries belonging to European Union and being in various development stages, using the example of Poland and France. This article describes how the research were conducted and what are the main conclusions.

Conclusions of mentioned research include:
(1) Identified attitudes and opinions of different stakeholders of research projects,
(2) Indication of what stakeholders understand using the terms: success and failure of a research project,
(3) Identification of problems and risks for research projects in different phases of the project from the point of view various stakeholders.
