Abstract:
Creativity takes on a predominant role in education and on the job market. In this purpose, our study aims to determine the main personality features in the context of creativity education. Hence, in a conative approach to creativity, autonomy, perseverance and risk taking are analyzed in relation to artistic drawing creativity. The sample of the pilot study consists of 23 second year Bachelor Psychology students (21 women, 2 men, MAge = 22.43, SD = 2.69, age range: 19-31 years). Analyzes only revealed a significant correlation between autonomy and artistic creativity (r = .52, p < .005). It seems that in this specific population an autonomous working style would be the determinant personality feature of artistic creative achievement. Transposed to an educational setting, this could be a hint for the importance of fostering an autonomous working style in young children. These results are going to be verified in an upcoming study on a larger sample and extended to other domains of creative thinking.
