Abstract:
This paper reports on the outcome of a project ‘Computer for Every Child’ implemented in primary and secondary schools in Macedonia in 2007. In order to increase the efficiency of the educational process the Government of the Republic of Macedonia implemented the project A Computer for every Child. When it started it was the largest investment in the education in the previous 17 years. With this project personal computers, LCD monitors, keyboards and mice have been provided for elementary and high schools throughout Macedonia.

The goal of this project is to increase the level of computer and internet usage, thus improving students’ and teachers’ information and technological skills. This project enables students to learn the curriculum in an environment and in a manner that meets the standards of the modern information society. The goal is facilitating availability of educational digital contents and information which can be found in the global internet network. In order to conduct the computerization of schools more efficiently, Internet connections have been provided for all elementary and high schools throughout Macedonia. This project will be continuously upgraded, in order to keep students and teachers up to date with new technologies.

The paper presents both foreign language teachers’ and their primary and secondary school students' views, their personal judgement and evaluation of this project. It reports on a survey carried out on a number of primary and secondary school students' and their foreign language teachers. The paper aims at providing an insight into how teachers and students understand the implementation of ICT in the teaching process in the foreign language classroom, and it finally draws a few conclusions concerning corresponding changes necessary for the improvement of the teaching staff and the teacher training teaching process.
