Abstract:
In a rapidly changing world where technological innovation is driving societal progress, artificial intelligence (AI) is entering university education with a new impetus. Educational institutions, which we consider to be solid pillars of the knowledge community, are not shying away from the wave of digital transformation, but rather moving with the times. It is university students who are in a key position to shape a future that will be heavily influenced by AI. Their views and opinions on this revolution can give us new insights into the use of AI in education.

The aim of this study is not only to uncover what opportunities AI brings to students in their everyday lives and what their expectations and concerns are about the use of AI, but more importantly, we want to build on our previous investigations into perceptions of AI in higher education environments with this research. In the context of the recent measures introduced by some universities in the Czech Republic, which have proceeded to abolish or change the requirements for the preparation of bachelor and master theses, we are interested in how these decisions have affected students' views on the use of AI in education and whether they agree with the abolition or introduction of the measures.

By confronting the results of the two surveys, we observe how rapidly these perspectives are changing in response to ongoing technological advances. Digital technology is changing by the hour, but are students' perspectives changing too?

We conclude the paper by summarizing key findings, highlighting important trends, and discussing possible future directions for research in this area.
