Abstract:
In today’s global world, Internationalization is prerequisite for success in any field, particularly in higher education. Successful education needs a certain level of internationalization, especially for some of the educational programs, to prepare future employees for the global market. In EU-countries however, international activities at universities are a fundamental part of the higher education, because the EU labor market is open for all the EU citizens.
One of the authors of this paper has been in long terms responsible for internationalization in mechanical engineering institution and has been representing the department in the internationalization committee at University level.
This paper is based on more than 25 years experiences of internationalization work as teaching own and exchange students, teaching exchange, international coordinating etc.
During this period, the authors have gathered information about internationalization outcomes from course evaluations, oral discussions with students and accomplished written questionnaires by incoming international students and outgoing own students, from meetings and discussions with colleagues at the host universities and incoming international teachers. The result of the gathered information and own experiences will be presented, in details, in this article. Some of the result presented in are as following:
Summarization and analyses of the results of cooperation with partner Universities from Europe and outside EU, the existing double degree agreements and other forms of exchange conclusions are presented in this paper. Analyzing the result from the different internationalization activities we can conclude the reason, motivation and best practices in development and accomplishment of teacher- and student exchange.
