Abstract:
Mathematics and statistics are essence of fundamental and applied science, especially in the world of big data. The establishment of postgraduate programs are monitored by the national authorities, however the state of higher education in Thailand has not been explored. The programs have their own configurations in different stages such as degree names, admission requirements, core courses, program requirements, delivery of presentations, unique features and strengths. The authors have conducted a nationwide survey to investigate the practices, configurations, and requirements of Master’s and Ph.D. programs in the mathematical sciences and statistical sciences in 2016. This article presents the findings of this survey from all institutions offering the related programs in Thailand. The results can help both educational staff and prospective students understanding the trend of higher education in mathematics and statistics in the country and also individual programs that are specialized in different areas.
