Abstract:

The interaction with digital technologies has become an everyday practice in various contexts of society, education and work place. This study examines how digital technologies, which include the use of websites, communication applications and artificial intelligence, influence and transform face-to-face communication. In particular, the study focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of traditional computerised mail and how technologies have changed the way of interpersonal communication. A mixed-method research design has been used for the purpose of this study. Data have been collected through questionnaires and in-depth, semi-structured interviews with students of ASPETE who use a variety of digital technologies to interact with each other. The study’s findings revealed that computerised correspondence has a number of benefits for communicators, including convenience, interaction and cooperation. Despite the many advantages that the internet offers, there are also some negative aspects, including an overload of information, lack of contact with human beings and having to deal with rapid changes in the technology.
