Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to dig into the experience of Nigerian international students in the University of Northampton International College (UNIC) and the effect online learning had on their grades and pathway to the University during the Covid-19 lockdown. The perspectives of different students were collected, and how the switch from physical orthodox teaching method to virtual lectures impacted on their grades and their cross over to the University of Northampton. Recommendations were made based on how Nigeria student fared and how UNIC can help them make a swift progression to their course of choice into the University.
In this research, an anonymous questionnaire was necessitated because students were rounding up with their term time, so collating their respective views on how they fared studying online during the Covid-19 lockdown wouldn’t be an uphill task nor interfere with their study. Each student was requested to complete a set of multichoice questions, making available only quantitative data which will be analysed for the purpose of this research. Moreover, only 20 students answered the research questionnaire, whose data will be analysed expository.
This study has helped unearth some vital information’s about how Nigerian international students can fully appreciate studying online and the benefits online learning has over traditional face-to-face classes. The notable disparity between online and physical classes is the efficiency of the later. Lastly, a large number of participants believe they would rather attend a face-to-face.
With this research, certain values will be attained. Example of the contributions will include, the opinions gotten from Nigeria students would be used to propose how the University of Northampton International College can adjust to the unfavourable conditions been faced by students and how adjusting to it can help breach the gap in students grade attainment.
