Abstract:
The pandemic situation (Covid-19) has brought many new challenges to society. There is no exception to the education system. Several years of experience show that the change that has taken place in the study process – the transition from face-to-face training to distance learning, and with the relaxation of restrictions due to the pandemic – the execution of the teaching and learning processes in remote learning – has brought many changes to the full-time study process routine in the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania (MAL). Adaptations to constantly changing conditions are becoming an increasingly challenging challenge for students, lecturers, and the administration of a higher education institution.
The sphere of responsibility of teachers has become not only the adaptation of the teaching process to distance studies (presentation of detailed learning materials in the virtual space, acquisition of learning competencies for teaching remotely, changes in communication methods with students, colleagues and administration, and so far) but also the responsibility to maintain the effectiveness of studies, diversity of content, effective communication with students, to keep the motivation of students' learning and their satisfaction with studies. As the pandemic situation changes, the lecturer, responsible for the realization of learning activities and strives for their effectiveness, faces a new challenge as the student's educational process shifts from face-to-face learning qualitatively to remote learning. This learning environment change is mainly due to the peculiarities of managing the covid-19 pandemic in an organization or state.
A study was performed to research the MAL educators' face-to-face and remote teaching experience in the 2020-2021 academic year. A qualitative research method was chosen to reveal the experiential differences and peculiarities of the study participants.
The results of the study revealed and highlighted the most frequently mentioned problems of virtual learning, the fundamental advantages of remote education and disadvantages, the most common scenarios of the remote learning process. Keywords:
