Abstract:
The importance of emotional skills to teachers' ability to cope with the global pandemic has increased significantly in recent years. Teachers can improve their resilience and wellbeing by developing social-emotional competencies, leading to personal and professional growth. The first year in the classroom is when teachers learn and develop their teaching skills and build their resilience and professional identity. Recent studies show that those skills have sharpened the importance of advancing knowledge about integrating 21st-century skills into teaching and learning. Professional development programs are becoming increasingly important for teachers. The professional development of new teachers was made possible through the establishment of training programs around the world. This article presents doctoral research results focusing on constructing a new teacher training program. The training program will emphasize social-emotional learning (SEL) and its importance for new teachers' professional development and ability to cope with and adapt to learning, teaching, and school changes. In this article, we introduce findings from a focus group of teachers in their first year of teaching and examine the emotional abilities and SEL (social-emotional learning) that affect emotional resilience and wellbeing, which are critical for integrating new teachers into the classroom. Keywords:
