Abstract:
The dynamic development of threats and risks in the form of industrial technologies, energy, transport, interventions in the environment, the unreliability of the human factor and especially extreme weather events are increasingly resulting in the composition of interventions of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic gradually shifting from basic activities such as rescue and liquidation work during fires, to activities connected with technical and technological interventions during traffic accidents, natural disasters or other extraordinary events. The Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic is faced with a situation in which its members have to cope with very diverse requirements placed on their performance of the service. All the demands placed on the activities within the scope of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic must be reflected in the approach to training and education, as the quality of emergency management and the level of knowledge of members and employees of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic are directly proportional to the level of their professional training system. The aim of the study is to evaluate the current functioning of the education system at the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic and to reflect on the experience with this system. Another goal is to work out strengths and weaknesses; at the same time, to outline probable risks and, conversely, opportunities for the development of the education system in the future period at the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. A systematic approach was used for processing the topic, which is based on a set of procedures focused on setting research goals, collecting and analyzing information and conclusions. The state of the education system calls for adjustments aimed at increasing the quality of education and optimizing it. In order to further streamline education at the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, it is important that this process be completed, with the fact that, in addition to professional courses for obtaining professional competence, or extension of the validity of the certificate of professional competence, specialization courses will also be critically assessed, the updated offer of which will be published regularly.
