Abstract:
Current demands of industrial practice reveal the limitations of traditional linear CAD modeling education, which often isolates digital design from manufacturing constraints and physical reality. This work aims to present and validate a specialized educational framework based on Reverse Engineering (RE) methodology as a tool to bridge the gap between software proficiency and engineering intuition. Within the proposed pedagogical approach, students are confronted with real technical components, subjecting them to back-analysis and subsequent digital reconstruction. This process compels the active application of principles such as design for manufacturability, dimensional tolerances, and material efficiency directly during the geometry creation process. Results of this framework’s implementation indicate an increase in students' multidisciplinary competencies and their ability to comprehend the complex product lifecycle within the context of Industry 4.0. The paper documents that transforming instruction from passive modeling to the analytical reconstruction of parts more effectively prepares graduates for solving engineering tasks in industrial practice.
