Abstract:
The measures adopted during the Covid-19 pandemic had a significant impact on teaching and student success. It was evident from the beginning that there would be consequences, whether good or bad and since the beginning of the pandemic there have been published papers about the impact of the shift from face-to-face to online classes. However, more measurable results of how these changes have affected the generations are starting to arrive only now, when we can compare the success of the pre-Covid, during-Covid, and the first post-Covid generation.

As Computer Networks course students' final success strongly depends on their practical skills, the continuity of laboratory exercises during the lockdown had a key place in course organization. Online and offline tools enabled us to provide students with this continuity.

By analyzing final exams of the last few generations, we tried to determine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the quality of our Computer Networks course and the students’ achieved final success. Our finding is that the success of students is mostly affected by the change itself – the years 2020 and 2022 show similar characteristics in the achieved results, and what those years have in common is the shift from one form of teaching to another.
