Abstract:
In times of constant change and sudden events, there is a growing need to look for new educational solutions. Traditional education, the classroom system and outdated teaching methods do not meet the expectations and the needs of modern students. Both teachers and researchers are constantly looking for ways to make education more attractive, effective and, above all, student-friendly. One of the solutions is outdoor education, the main assumption of which is teaching by doing and bringing education beyond the school walls.

Outdoor education is a work concept focused on the learning process through independent experience and experimentation outside the classroom. Activities undertaken by students and teachers focus on constructing knowledge and acquiring various skills during classes carried out in a social and natural environment. However, many teachers give up teaching outside the classroom and school walls because they focus on implementing the program and are afraid of the threats resulting from lessons outside. In our speech, we want to show the advantages of outdoor education.

The aim of speech is to present the idea of outdoor education - its theoretical foundations and main assumptions. We also want to show the importance of theories and models such as: learning cycle by David Kolb (concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation, active experimentation), Stretch-Zone Experience Model and Challenge by Choice method. Finally, we will present possible educational solutions using the outdoor education method in working with children and youth at school.
