Abstract:
Mixed reality and its use in various types of educational and training processes is currently very widespread. The use of augmented reality in the training of new employees, or its use in support of specific types of teaching subjects is now common practice. However, the onset of the situation, which was caused by a pandemic associated with COVID-19, has shown that the use of mixed reality has far more fields of application than expected. An exemplary situation for the development of this area can be observed in education, where in specific cases it is not possible to provide a comprehensive educational process without sufficient graphic processing of materials. The presented article presents the possibilities of applying a software solution for the integration of elements of virtual reality into the teaching process. It further describes the application of this technology to three technically oriented subjects. Within the presentation of teaching material, the software application focuses on the basic groups of skills necessary for teaching selected subjects. These should be used to support spatial orientation and technical vision using tools such as creating assembly and disassembly sequences, sequencing views in technical documentation, or reconstruction of digitized objects realized within a virtual environment. The advantage of using a specific type of hardware is it possible to ensure the participation of a larger number of connected users and thus achieve an adequate replacement for training implemented in a virtual environment.
