Abstract:
The review study presents the results of analyses of foreign research on the issue of teachers' workload with regard to their life satisfaction. The results of the study will serve to grasp the research problem in the project VEGA 1/0415/22 Subjectively perceived difficulty of teachers' professional activities versus their life satisfaction, which is aimed at primary and pre-primary teachers. The level and nature of teachers' workload are influenced by persistently changing socio-economic and political conditions. Teachers' work activities are constantly increasing and are more demanding. Through their work activities, teachers primarily ensure the educational process, which includes creative innovations in teaching procedures, participation in school projects, evaluation of work results, cooperation with other experts, and providing counselling to parents. Teachers are also required to adequately address the demands that social change brings to their work - population migration, multiculturalism, social inequalities, increased divorce rates, etc. These demands placed on teachers by society, as well as the workload, are directly related to their overall job satisfaction as part of their life satisfaction. In 2011, there were published research findings (Kasáčová et al., 2011) on the workload, profile and structure of professional activities of Slovak teachers of primary and pre-primary education. The findings were compared with the situation in the Czech Republic and Poland. In Slovakia, we deal with the subject matter of work and life satisfaction of pre-primary and primary education teachers to a limited extent. The topic of teachers' life satisfaction is important because research (Kandrík, 2004) shows that there is a correlation between workload and human life satisfaction. The results of this overview study form a theoretical basis for the analysis and grasp of empirical research in the Slovak context. Keywords:
