Abstract:
This paper investigates whether the programs for foreign and repatriated students implemented through the European Social Fund and National Resources (EPEAEK) and the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) are complementary to existing institutions of intercultural education, they are flexible in relation to existing institutions, provide methodical support to students, parents and teachers and are reliable because supported by expert scientists. In addition, the research explores the effectiveness of the Greek language learning sections in terms of learning the Greek language and developing the language skills and abilities of writing that lead to improved school performance.

Furthermore, this paper explores the extent to which these programs include innovative features. 130 secondary teachers participated in the study.

The results showed the key contribution of Greek language programs that include a variety of innovative features. Examples are distance learning teachers, networking of education staff and school units, and finally, the link with local society and cultural institutions to learn mother tongues.
