Abstract:
First academic foundation of basic design education course was laid by Bauhaus School which was founded by Walter Gropius in 1919 in Germany. This course sets off the basis of fine arts education to train creative students in which esthetics and technique are used together. Within the scope of this education, theoretical expressions and practical assignments are given for the emergence of individual ability and creativity. While these practices improve personal awareness of the student, they provide contribution to the dialog between designer and the viewer. These are the absolute requirements for the development of creativity, mental ability and the optical skills. Design principles and design elements form the content of the topics. In this course, which takes a long period of time when compared with other courses (9 hours per week at Anadolu University, Fine Arts Faculty in Turkey) important knowledge are given on subjects like design consciousness, development of creativeness, seeing and awareness. Projects designed during the course show the effective results on the students.

Nowadays while designers are looking for new ways to express themselves, they interpret the real world with their own perceptions to create the new and unprecedented. At the same time by trying to see the uniqueness of the things that surrounds us, they contribute to art with improving their sensibility and awareness. As a result, the most important feature which distinguishes an artist or a designer candidate from others is the ability of executing subtle differences at what he sees with combining his own skills. Therefore he can make ordinary images remarkable and boring things exciting. He uses unfamiliar methods and experiences to expose unexpected facts underneath that no one has seen. Meanwhile the viewer will be amazed by the difference of art work. Over time by seeing new exhibitions and art works consistently and regularly with thinking and searching on them, the viewer will be able to realize the content of the artwork and get the information about the technique used. The student works included in this research will be shown frequently during the presentation to improve the awareness between the designer and the audience.
