Abstract:
All the basic principles of life are restructuring by the discussed concept of globalization in the Information Age. Almost in every field, the related knowledge production is increased in an unlimited way. By the way of information and communication technologies, the existing knowledge can be shared easily. Every part and level of social life, the dynamics of this sharing environment has lifted the restrictions and borders. Briefly, it is observed that "converging distances" can form the society and the living environment. This global approach structures on the basic principles of the labor, capital and people free-movement and the sharing knowledge. However the social life and also the education direct a different mentality for the world.
Increasing knowledge and technology in global level, the society mechanisms that comprise the cultural, economic and political areas are also directly influenced. These ongoing changes related to the technological and design developments can be easily observed in the space-user-function requests the requirements.
These developments affect both daily life and alter the habits of doing business. Affected areas such as design related professions; also influences higher education field. In addition, due to the differences in the knowledge of design professions, traditional knowledge, ideas, techniques and education structures cannot be enough for the new requests and the requirements.
One of the goals of Interior Architecture/Design is based on human, human life, user requests/requirements and comfort. This feature is the direct impact of social daily life. So it should not stay behind the global developments. From this perspective, under the guidance of the new concepts, the Interior Architecture/Design framework of a new educational model must be evaluated.
The new structure can be used in countries such as Europe. The change is going on for the Interior Architecture/Design education but it can be configured for a global education. In this model, the curriculum can be designed for minimum criteria which reflect the global principles of the Interior Architecture/Design. Student/educator exchange programs, recognition of local features and understanding the global values of design are the acquisitions for the new model of Interior Architecture/Design education.
