Abstract:
Scope and purpose of the paper:
This paper explores the impact of the Industry 4.0 concept on postgraduate industrial management education in Germany. The purpose of the study is to pinpoint potential educational challenges in the field that is characterised by a rapidly developing body of knowledge and increasing managerial complexity. The contribution of the paper lies in understanding and improving the practical relevance of industrial management education.

Methodology and findings of the paper:
First, a literature survey is produced on the requirements that Industry 4.0 places industrial management graduate employees. Subsequently, a questionnaire survey is conducted among industrial management graduates of the HTW Berlin (Germany). Analysing the perceptions of working graduates allows to better understand the range of competencies required in professional employment. Based on the findings, educational problem areas are identified and recommendations for designing industrial management degree programmes for sustained practical relevance formulated.
