Abstract:
The accreditation process is currently being in progress at the Faculty of Security Engineering, University of Žilina. The preparation and processes related to this important obligation have included many of new aspects resulting mainly from the requirements of practice and gaining practical experience of students of the faculty. The various areas of security have long been focus of the Faculty of Security Engineering, which branch out the focus into individual departments accordingly. The presented article will focus on the process of innovation of the study program Security Management and its procedural parts which are covered by the Department of Security Management. The study program has gone through a significant change that integrates parts of the existing study program Security Management suitable complemented by new perspectives that are based on practical requirements of security industry. Three trajectories of the study of the Security Management program have been introduced, namely information security, physical and object security, and security management systems. Study plans have been created for the individual trajectories of the Security Management study program. These plans determine the time and content sequence of subjects of study programs and the forms of evaluation of study results. Throughout setting up the new study program, the principles of a constructivist approach were applied, with focus on harmonizing the required objectives and outcomes of education, methods of teaching and learning and assessment methods. Each subject has its place in the curriculum, in a specific year, or in the structure of the trajectory. The study plans were supplemented in the bachelor but also in the engineering degree by compulsory practice in the selected trajectory. Students also can complete compulsory internships by participating in scientific research projects that are directly related to their selected trajectories. The Department of Security Management supports the compulsory internships by systematical integration this form into the submitted or implemented project calls. Currently, students of all three levels of study participate in the scientific research project APVV-20-0457 Monitoring and Tracing of Movement and Contacts of Persons in Medical Facilities, in which they deal with tracing, monitoring, economic evaluation and testing of technological innovations. As the principal objective of the innovation of the study program has been interconnection with the industrial practice, the authorities from practice were also involved in the process of creation of the study program and its subsequent improvement. For the mentioned study program, the study plans were reviewed by authorities such as the Cyber Security Competence and Certification Center, Cyber Security Cluster, Continental Matador Rubber & Continental Matador Truck Tires, and other major companies operating in the Slovak Republic. The article will present the background of the preparation of innovative program, the process of its innovation, the requirements of practice and also the process of its approval.
