Abstract:
The study aimed to identify the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Iraqi academic community. The study used the descriptive survey approach and included a sample of 144 participants using electronic questionnaires as a tool for collecting data after verifying its authenticity and reliability. The tool consisted of (35) paragraphs: (20) paragraphs for teaching performance and (15) paragraphs for scientific research. The study reached many of the most important results: the average opinion about the phrase "acquisition of multiple technical skills and self-development" was (2.82 out of 3), which means that the sample is largely agreeing on the positive impact of the pandemic on this path. The average opinion about "provided an opportunity for researchers to attend electronic scientific discussions through several virtual platforms" (2.76 out of 3). In addition, the study found that there were no statistically significant differences at the indicative level of 0.05 of the average opinion of the study sample on the impact of the pandemic on the academic community according to the gender variable and the educational level. The study recommended several recommendations, the most important of which: universities are required to provide the necessary budget to prepare real infrastructure to ensure the availability of electronic service and at all joints of the university from the registration of the student electronically ending with the end-of-year examination at the last stage of the study, provided that the accepted student at the university is provided with electronic supplies to facilitate the process of electronic communication, the establishment of open electronic training courses within the so-called Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC).
