Abstract:
Research on the relationship of second language extralinguistic factors with Malay language achievement among foreign students in Malaysia is still deficient. Being aware of this fact, the researcher has conducted a study on dominant second language extralinguistic factors in learning a second language. The researcher is interested in studying colour personality as one of the main factors in extralinguistic. As a continuation of these efforts, the researcher tried to find the relationship between academic achievement in Malay language by the students and the second language extralinguistic factors. The total of 150 samples from 27 countries.
Researchers use Max Luscher Color Test (1981) to get the student’s personality fits with the interpretation of the meaning based on favourite colours. Selection of colour in the test were prepared in a manner that would have the choice of colour is done by someone with a spontaneous impulse of the subconscious. The test results reveal the true personality of someone. The colour choosen by the respondents described the physical condition and set their mind. Luscher colour test (1981) uses the seven colours, namely blue, green, red, yellow, purple, black and brown. The results from the field survey and observation study showed that foreign students choose green colour as the dominant colour. Students who choose the colour green has a firmness and resistance to change. Students who choose this colour want to have something in any way and think only for oneself. Keywords:
