Abstract:
In recent years and among most developed countries, there has been growing reference to the need to transform educational units into digital learning organizations, i.e. educational units that are not only "open" to innovations and changes but also focused on digital transformation. An information system serves this purpose completely and becomes a great tool in the efficient administration of an educational unit.

This research focuses on the knowledge and skills that school principals in Primary Education possess. Specifically, the focus is on the principals in the region of Western Greece and their knowledge and skills in the use of information systems in education. The results were obtained through a self-report questionnaire with closed-ended questions and were statistically significant in terms of variables such as gender and age. The findings of the specific research showed that the digital transformation of the Greek primary school still needs many steps forward, even though hopeful messages emerged from the new generation of principals.
