Abstract:
Using learning centres in teaching science is an aspect of change in the teaching process. This action research dealt with students in 11th scientific grade in Al-Bireh Secondary School for Girls in Ramallah. The focus was on learning/teaching using the learning centres strategy together with the groups approach. Through this study, students built learning centres themselves by the support and observation of the teacher. They have prepared experiments, drama, worksheets, videos, products, quizzes and presentations.

Through the results of this action research study regarding using LC in teaching and learning physics in the Gas Behaviour Unit, it was found that students were actively engaged, more motivated to learn, and achieved better grades especially among the group of the law achiever students .Following this experience, most students acquired new learning skills and had showed positive attitudes toward learning physics.

Although there were some challenges at the beginning of the study, cooperative students with the help of their teacher were able to overcome most of the difficulties, since the active teaching/learning process was a self-motivated one, which fulfilled their desires to be self- learners.
