Abstract:
The aim of this study is to identify what do students of the European University of Tirana think is the best way to learn English and how do professors deal with speaking during the lesson. In order to do so, information about language acquisition in general, second language acquisition and speaking skill acquisition in particular were accounted for and discussed. A study was carried out at European University of Tirana. The sample was students of Public Relations and Communication in Bachelor degree and Professors of English Language. The sample is 104 people:100 students and 4 professors. The instruments used to gather the information were questionnaire with students and semi-structured interviews with professors. It was use descriptive analyses to analyse the data. The result of this study shows that students think they learn English best through communication. They feel more comfortable when they discuss within the classroom. The professors deal actively with speaking exercises in English and believe that it is an important part of second language acquisition.
