Abstract:
This paper explores the critical role of digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing nations, highlighting its necessity for survival in today's fiercely competitive landscape. By examining various catalysts and frameworks such as digital disruption, maturity, and ecosystems, it assesses SMEs' readiness for digitalization through concepts like readiness, capability, and maturity.

The research methodology details the process of identifying research domains and criteria for evaluating SME digital transformation. Insights gleaned from a study conducted in a small developing country underscore that while SMEs have initiated digital adoption across several dimensions, significant opportunities for enhancement remain, notably in areas like green compliance and advanced digital technologies.

Overall, the paper advocates for ongoing improvement of digital transformation endeavors for SMEs, emphasizing the pivotal roles of Business Support Service Providers (BSSPs) in empowering them. It proposes recommendations to fortify existing support systems and foster collaboration among industry, academia, and SMEs, stressing the importance of knowledge dissemination, skills development, and mentorship initiatives to propel SMEs forward in their digital journey.
