Abstract:
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic caused a forced rapid digital transformation in numerous academic institutions. As a result, many schools at the University of Sarajevo were forced to migrate all their teaching and academic activities to various free and commercial virtual classroom software solutions.
This research aims to identify these software solutions used in providing education via an online environment at the University of Sarajevo and identify the functionalities of virtual classroom platforms used by teaching staff or not sufficiently used or even are missing for quality online education. Finally, this research examines whether user characteristics such as age, gender, education, teaching experience, and creativity can influence the number of functions used. The research was conducted through an online questionnaire distributed via email to the teachers at the university.
This paper contributes to the scientific literature by identifying what functions a good virtual classroom software must possess to be used and evaluated as a positive experience.
