Abstract:
The Covid-19 pandemic has dramatically and unprecedentedly changed the way many industries, including education, operate. A completely new approach to the provision of educational services was necessary. The article presents the experience of distance learning of university students during the development of the covid-19 pandemic in the period March - July 2020. The previous model of providing educational services at the Faculty of Management in Lublin University of Technology is described including IT support and tools used. Then, it is presented how the conditions of the university's functioning have changed as well as the assumptions concerning the work of teachers and students. The article contains a case study of Business Intelligence course, including software and tools used for remote learning, their description and critically assessment in terms of meeting the needs from three perspectives: students, lecturers and university administration. Strategies for dealing with insufficient functionalities of the tools used are also described. The pandemic is expected to have a lasting impact on the area of education. Hence, the described experiences may be helpful for other universities in planning both distance learning and dealing with similar situations in the future. The article also contains recommendation for teachers on the organization and control of the education process to ensure its greatest effectiveness.
