Abstract:
Special education as one of the fields of care for people with different types of special needs is nowadays directly linked to the ability of society to promote inclusion. Professionals whose care contributes to the independent and quality coexistence of all citizens face increasing demands for highly developed personal and professional skills. Just as the theoretical framework for the training of special education teachers is changing and adapting, so are the ways of training in personal and professional competences. As part of the preparation of future special education teachers focusing on counselling, we have developed the concept of training for the development of soft skills on the basis of collaborative education. Validation of the concept is currently in its second year with Master's students in special education. The content, methods and conditions under which the development of soft skills can be effective, while responding to the requirement of student safety and the specific possibilities of the higher education system, are being evaluated.
The paper will include a description of the content and form of the proposed concept, a description of the specific conditions and procedures applied to student learning, and the results of an evaluation of the concept for use in the higher education system.
