Abstract:
Thanks to new information technologies and the possibilities of their use, the trend of remote work has been developing in the world in recent years. This trend has been popular for a long time, but it started to rise exponentially mainly because of the pandemic. Businesses had to deal with the rapid growth of this trend in a short period of time and adapt their processes and environment to offer the option of remote work. It affected not only companies but also schools and universities. The possibility of working remotely brings many procedural but mainly technological challenges. There are solutions that made the theoretical part examination easier for us. In this study, we will focus primarily on the process of testing the practical part of the exam. The main challenge of using this approach was to ensure the quality of the examination, where the element of cheating needs to be eliminated so that students have the as little opportunity as possible to circumvent the rules of the examination. Creating practical parts of exams is demanding, and therefore it is important to ensure that students do not have access to practical assignments. In the study, we focus on the solutions that we normally used for these needs and describe their disadvantages and the difficulty of operation. For these reasons, we, therefore, came up with a simpler solution by creating our own application using the Safe Exam Browser. There were several flaws in this solution that were discovered after testing our solution. The study also includes a description of these problems. The solution is sufficient in some cases, but to eliminate the problems completely, we have created another solution. The last part of the study is devoted to the solution using docker containers in which we use multiple technologies to provide remote access to terminal devices in the container. To create this solution, we used scripts that will allow us to automatically create the necessary environment with specific devices and elements for their operation. We applied all these solutions to testing the subject of computer networks in our organization.
