Abstract:
The quality of the education is one of the key priorities around the world. The education in the Czech Republic undergos fundamental changes since 1989. A lot of effort has been devoted to the newly defined objectives and professional competencies of teachers. Current main task is to manage the quality in education. The paper examines the potential of currently widely used concept of self-efficacy for the undergraduate teacher training. The first part introduces the concept of self-efficacy and its usability not only for the assessment of student professional grow, but also for evaluation of the efectiveness of teacher professional preparation. In the debate on criteria for assessing the effectiveness and quality of training both objective and subjective view on professional readiness were considered. The pilot survey was conducted on a sample of 120 students from the 4th year master's degree, who through a questionnaire of 26 items reflected on their experiences of educational practice and compared them with the requirements for teachers compiled on the basis of qualification frame within the teaching profession. The obtained results are interpreted in two ways: as a feedback on the state of the preparedness of students themselves and as an evaluation of the efectiveness of teacher professional preparation. In conclusion the possibilities of further modifications of the questionnaire for its multipurpose use in the education of future teachers have been analysed.
