Abstract:
According to the technical report published by the Central Bank of Ecuador in 2017, the national economy contracted by 1.5% due to the economic recession of 2016, affecting the main productive sectors of the country, causing the appearance of emerging industries as part of the response to this crisis. For the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador, between 2016 and 2018, the creative industries represented an economic income corresponding to 4.47% in relation to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 2014, maintaining the standard relationship of developing countries. At the Latin American level, the creative industry stood at 4.44%, which is below the world average of about 5.02%.

This research aims to identify the creative industry in the sectors of: creative services, design, new media, audio-visuals and publications, within the social context as a dynamic element of the economy, and an employability enhancer, to determine the number of industries according to a delimited sector, and analyse the economic impact they had during the crisis period.

Qualitative methodologies were applied to measure the influence of this type of industries in the social and economic field, with the determination to identify figures on the trajectory and agglomeration in urban and rural areas, through regional study cases.
