Abstract:
A rising growth of technology and the globalization of business have increased the demands for effective development of teamwork in virtual context. To succeed on this, a considerable attention on the key factors that influence the performance of virtual teamwork is needed. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate the main factors that will be the key performance indicators of virtual teamwork, and then to propose a conceptual framework of those key performance indicators along with its coding scheme. This framework will be designed with the intention of promoting in higher education so that graduates can acquire the necessary skills, ability and knowledge of virtual teamwork before going to their occupation sector and can avail early success in their career. A qualitative research method was followed in this article for analyzing the contents of related literatures in order to explore, understand, and summarize the concept of key factors that improve the performance in virtual teamwork. This framework can also be used to assess the overall performance of a virtual team, as well as individual team member by evaluating those key factors both in educational and business environment for evaluating purpose. Also, top managerial positions in business sector can used this knowledge to better manage their virtual team and enhance the success of virtual teamwork.
