Abstract:
This paper focuses on state of the art of career guidance and counseling on secondary vocational schools in the Czech Republic due to Industry 4.0. The main concern is given to a system and carrier guidance and counseling opportunities and its role in development of career management skills of secondary vocational school pupils. The main aim is to answer the following fundamental questions: Do focal schools have sufficient knowledge and equipment needed for appropriate development of career guidance and counseling? What are the main factors influencing how much does a school counselor focus on career guidance and counseling?.

The proposed paper presents results of quantitative research conducted at secondary vocational school which cooperates with Institute of Education and Communication at CULS, Prague. The research is based on analyzing both groups pupils and school counselors to map state of the art and relevant causes of it. Results outline that there is insufficient emphasis and incorporation of career guidance and counseling into secondary vocational school education. Therefore, gained findings help formulate recommendation how to adapt career guidance and counseling to current requirements in the Czech Republic.
