Abstract:
In line with the use of the new Information and Communication Technologies which promote the European Higher Education Area, in this paper we present the great advantages which provide the Adobe Connect virtual classroom as a support tool for theoretical and practical teaching of Statistics as well as to keep in continuous and direct contact with students and between them. Due to the difficulty in using scientific text editors to develop teaching material, the interactive virtual whiteboard reduces this problem and it can be a very helpful tool to clarify theoretical concepts by means of solving some experimental problems on real time as well as to resolve any present and future doubts or problems that might arise. In order to illustrate the advantages of the above-mentioned teaching tools, we describe our experience in the use of those with several small groups of students. As a measure of the effectiveness of these virtual teaching tools, we present a student satisfaction survey in which a high level of satisfaction with the access to contents of virtual classes as well as the maintenance of a closer teacher-student relationship is observed.
