Abstract:
Education is the most important aspect in the human development. Through all their life humans are continuously learning both on professional and personal aspects. It should be accessible to all kind of people, regarding their gender, race or social environment from where they come.

In almost all European countries pre-university education is compulsory and fewer students have access to higher education because of various motifs. In Eastern Europe, particularly in Romania, the number of students which accede to higher education decreases every year. Eventually, the ones who enrol are quitting after the first year or in the second one because they cannot adapt to the academic environment or, after completing their studies, they have difficulties in the insertion process on the labour market. So, having this background, the universities from Romania try to increase the participation and education level for the students.

This paper aims to highlight the ups and downs of an educational project that is currently developing in Politehnica University from Timisoara. This project wants to increase the participation and level of education for students and teachers, especially for vulnerable groups, by providing financial support to students, increasing the attractiveness of the educational offer and improving the teaching staff skills.
