Abstract:
Contemporary e-learning is a conglomeration of various methodical, organizational and technical solutions which enable the personalization of e-learning. At the basis of personalization is the assumption that each student learns in a different way, so it is purposeful to link in a maximum way the program content to what students really are interested in and to adapt the forms of presenting content and means of communication to the needs and abilities of individual students. Universities striving to personalization of e-learning build different models of e-learning, which differ in the way they communicate program content, their presentation and visualization, as well as channels of communication and cooperation between participants in the education process. The paper attempts to identify dependencies between the personalization of e - learning and the effectiveness of student learning.

Empirical research was carried out among students of higher-education economics universities which carry out classes using e-learning. The questionnaire was a research tool. The aim of the first stage of the research was to identify the characteristics of the constructs: personalization of e-learning and the effectiveness of student learning. For personalization of e-learning, lists of the most frequently chosen methods and forms of e-learning classes and communication channels have been established. The effectiveness of students' learning was assessed using their self-assessment of the knowledge gained and the degree of acquired soft competences.

The aim of the second stage research was to verify the following research hypotheses:
H1: There is a significant interdependence between the use of selected e-learning methods and techniques and the effectiveness of student learning.
H2: There is a significant interdependence between the use of selected channels of communication in e-learning and the effectiveness of student learning.

Both hypotheses were verified positively with the use of the Pearson test for the constructed correlation tables: the effectiveness of learning and the methods and techniques of e-learning and the effectiveness of learning and forms of communication. The conducted research indicated that it is worth improving the personalization process of e-learning because it is a factor which determines the success of effective student learning.

In this context, it is recommended to construct classroom scenarios based on the proposed set of e-learning methods and techniques including: portfolio, multimedia presentation, computer simulation (experiment), videoconferences and written contributions (essay) with an emphasis on the possibility of choosing the form of presentation of the training content, due to the diverse approaches of students to the learning process. It is also recommended to strengthen communication in the teacher-student relationship, in terms of teachers' positive attitude towards social media and the application of discussion forums and chat rooms.
