Abstract:
Pre-senior education has a significant place within the lifelong education in companies or organisations. However, also nowadays, it is crucial to emphasise its importance and to support various educational activities aimed at people in the age of older adulthood. Their active participation in the provided educational process can lead to their higher satisfaction, mainly in the period before leaving to retirement, as well as during the years they are retired. The presented article focuses on this topic, and it has a theoretical-application character. In the first part, the author deals with the proper pre-senior education as a specific type of adult education and preparation of older people for retirement. She clarifies some theoretical bases of the given topic, and she proposes some educational programmes which could be applied and carried out here. These programmes represent intervention measures (e.g. development of cognitive functions), as well as preventive measures (e.g. weakening of social status or mental activity in retirement) concerning the period when seniors prepare for leaving to retirement. Subsequently, in the application part, the author deals more thoroughly with the programme of Instrumental Enrichment (FIE), whose creator is the Israeli pedagogue and psychologist Reuven Feuerstein. The author describes the focus, contents and objectives of this programme. At the same time, she points to the possibilities of its use in the pre-senior education. Keywords:
Pre-senior education, Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment (FIE).
