Abstract:
The paper has a theoretical and application character. Nowadays, the issue of education of children and pupils with hyperkinetic syndrome (ADHD) is highly topical as their number is constantly growing in regular primary and secondary school classes. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the specifics of their education. In the theoretical part, the authors deal with the issue of the syndrome itself; they describe its etiology as well as the symptoms as possible consequences of the present impairment of partial functions in the perceptual-cognitive area. They analyse in more details the deficits in the development of attention and executive functions, which are the core of the paper, as they are crucial considering the issue of hyperactivity disorder and attention. The authors point out their importance and significance for the optimal functioning of children and pupils in everyday life, but especially in the educational process. The application part of the paper is focused on presenting the essence and content of the instrumental enrichment method, the creator of which is the Israeli pedagogue and psychologist, Professor Reuven Feuerstein. This method primarily focuses on reducing or eliminating deficits of cognitive functions, which often underlie the causes of ADHD. The aim of the authors is to point out the potential of this method in the development and stimulation of impaired attention and executive functions in children and pupils who are carriers of the disorder.
