Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a fundamental change in education, when the full-time form was replaced the distance form. Students as well as teachers had to respond to changes in the form of new methods of learning and teaching using online tools and platforms designed for E-learning. Modern information and communication technologies bring dramatic changes in the education system around the world. Information and communication technologies make it possible to achieve a greater positive effect in education compared to traditional forms of education. In connection with the development of information and communication technologies, the use of mobile applications in several areas is currently growing. The increased use of communication tools in the form of mobile applications in business and education is mainly due to the current situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Mobile applications currently appear to be a very suitable and effective tool for online education, especially to increase students' interest in education. The current situation of education differs significantly from the situation before the start of the pandemic. At that time, mobile applications formed the support of education, but currently they form a basis for education without which it is impossible to imagine the course of education. The authors of the article focused on the field of education, especially on applications used to support distance education - platforms designed for collaboration, which support text communication, video calls, use of data storage to store files, or integration of other applications into the school environment. In this context, the aim of the article is to carry out a survey of the use of mobile applications in the field of distance education in the Slovak Republic and its evaluation. The benefit of the article is to analyse E-learning applications used in the school environment and to determine the specific experiences of their use by university students.
